From the onset of the design, the goal was to build a space that felt warm, welcoming and ‘lodge like” by the use of rock, natural cherry and fir woods, bronze finished accents, carpet and earthy hued colors.
The exterior of the building is constructed with solid masonry walls, rock fascia, dry-vit stucco accents, wooden beams and a metal roof. The interior walls contain steel studs with poured concrete flooring over steel framing. The building has 24/7 security with electronic locks, cameras and a sprinkler system for fire suppression.
The slate laid in the entries, lobbies and kitchen areas came from Northern China. The original shipment was broken in shipment and a subsequent shipment has to be re-mined exclusively for this building. There is 2,470 square feet, all in 24x24” squares.
The wooden beams supporting the front and rear gables run entirely through the trusses in the roof and although decorative as part of the design, have a duel purpose of supporting the roof structure. Each ‘wing’ of the roof was built on the ground and lifted in its entirety onto the building structure in a single piece. The front and rear awnings were delivered pre-built and placed on the support posts.
All data lines are linked to fiber optic cable for high speed internet and internal support. The lower floor has a computer supported Conference Center with comfortable classroom seating for more than 50 individuals plus an attached catering kitchen featuring two microwave ovens, a double stove and oversized refrigerator/freezer.
